This full-time, permanent role involves teaching Geography across Key Stages 3–5 (GCSE and A-Level), shaping enquiry-based learning, and contributing to a department known for academic ambition and excellence.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from a candidate who:
* Holds a recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
* Has strong subject knowledge in both physical and human geography
* Is confident teaching at GCSE and A-Level, with ability to inspire across the ability range
* Designs lessons that combine spatial thinking, field inquiry, data skills, and real-world relevance

The School Context

The school publishes outstanding results: in recent A-Level rounds over a third of entries achieved A* or A grades, with nearly 99.7% pass rate. (Based on latest public statements)
Geography is treated as a core subject in the senior curriculum. The department is praised for structuring enquiry projects at lower levels, optional geography pathways at GCSE, and a rich A-Level offering. At lower years, pupils encounter fieldwork in local landscapes and environmental themes; as they progress, students explore global change, human–environment interactions, mapping, and independent investigation. The school supports international trips and overseas geography projects, enhancing students’ geographic imagination and field skills.
Teachers in this environment benefit from a vibrant, supportive academic community. The school emphasizes staff development, cross-departmental collaboration, and a commitment to nurturing intellectual curiosity.
What’s on Offer
* A competitive salary commensurate with independent school standards
* Access to professional development, academic networks, and leadership pathways
* Well-equipped departmental resources, GIS / mapping tools, and fieldwork support
* A collegial working environment where innovation and teacher voice are valued
* Opportunities to lead enrichment, fieldwork, curricular innovation or global geography projects
The Role in More Detail
You will be responsible for planning, delivering and assessing geography lessons across all year groups, fostering analytical thinking, geographic skills, and depth of understanding. You will guide students through exam preparation at GCSE and A-Level, offering differentiated challenge and scaffolded support.
You’ll participate fully in curriculum planning, resource development, and enrichment planning. You may lead or coordinate field trips (local, national or international), coordinate geography clubs or projects, and build cross-curricular links (e.g. with environmental science, global studies or technology).
