We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person to join our Mental Health & Learning Disability pharmacy team, as a senior pharmacy technician.

You’ll have a key role in delivering a busy dispensing service for in-patients and out-patients at Royal Cornhill Hospital. You will be actively involved the dispensing process, including the final accuracy check and you will deputise for the Lead Pharmacy Technician. You will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation of the dispensary workload, providing technical support to wards and co‑ordinating the dispensing and supply of clozapine. Training pharmacy staff and other members of multi‑disciplinary teams will be a core part of a role.

You’ll undertake medicines management activities at ward level, supporting the medicines reconciliation process, check patients’ own medicines and organise medicines supply for in-patient stay and at discharge. You will have a lead role in medicines related audit. This post also includes a commitment to rotational weekend working in the dispensary at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Applications are invited from registered pharmacy technicians who have or are willing to undertake the Accredited Checking Technician qualification and are interested in working within mental health.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
