What do our Systems Engineers do?
Systems Engineering is a key technical discipline at QinetiQ. Many of our Chief Engineers and Technical Leads are Systems Engineers. Their expertise includes lifecycle models, development methods (e.g., agile, model-based Systems Engineering), and specific tools and notations. Daily tasks include requirements engineering, architecting, design, integration and testing, evaluation and acceptance, and through-life support. Varied career paths are available, allowing specialization in key skills or domains or working across the business.
Opportunities for new Systems Engineers
If you're starting your engineering career or have some experience in Systems Engineering, your skills may be a good fit. We recruit Engineers and develop them into competent System Engineers, with areas of application such as Combat Systems and Acoustics Systems.
Opportunities for mid-career Systems Engineers
If you're a mid-career professional, you'll apply your expertise immediately. We support ongoing development through training, mentoring, and on-the-job learning to help you excel and advance.
Opportunities for highly experienced Systems Engineers
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll lead teams to deliver key projects and contribute to our system engineering community. If you have potential for senior management, we will nurture it. Progression to senior roles requires active membership in professional bodies, and our Fellowship scheme recognizes high-level technical expertise.
