New Directions Education is recruiting a compassionate, skilled and highly adaptable SEN PMLD Teacher to support learners with profound and multiple learning difficulties across specialist settings in the Wakefield and Pontefract area. This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about providing personalised, holistic and nurturing education to pupils with complex physical, sensory and medical needs.

We are looking for a PMLD Teacher who:
-Has experience teaching pupils with PMLD, complex needs or significant developmental delays
-Can confidently lead a class using sensory, therapeutic and multi‑sensory approaches
-Is skilled in differentiating learning and delivering highly personalised provision
-Can work closely with support staff, therapists and families
-Understands trauma‑informed practice, communication systems (such as PECs, switches, intensive interaction) and sensory regulation
-Is comfortable contributing to and reviewing EHCPs
-Shows compassion, patience and creativity in every aspect of teaching
Your role as an SEN PMLD Teacher will include:
*Creating and delivering individualised, sensory‑rich learning programmes
*Leading a team of dedicated support staff within a nurturing classroom environment
*Supporting pupils with medical, physical and personal care needs
*Working collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams, including therapists and medical professionals
*Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote progress, wellbeing and communication
*Ensuring every learner experiences dignity, safety and positive engagement
