Principal Protection Engineer
Strategic National Grid Projects (Hybrid/Remote UK)
Location: Remote/Hybrid (UK-wide). Office Base: Hebburn, Tyne & Wear.
Travel: Minimal (approx. once a month) after initial training.

Are you a Principal Protection Engineer ready to lead strategic projects on the National Grid 5-Year Light Current Framework?
Our client require a technical leader to mentor their team of design and junior engineers, delivering resilient Protection & Control solutions for our client (National Grid).

* Timeline: Their desire is to hire 3x Principal Protection Engineers ideally, ASAP.
Your Impact: Key Responsibilities
You will set the technical direction and lead the delivery across the full project lifecycle:
* Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of design and junior engineers.
* Client Delivery: Oversee high-quality P&C solutions for National Grid substations (including MESH corners).
* Standards Expert: Ensure compliance with the latest standards, specifically expertise around TP141 (or CDAE) assurance and settings.
* Project Phases: Manage technical delivery from planning (contracts, budgets, keyline diagrams) through to detailed design (circuit/cubicle diagrams) and site implementation (wiring, configuration, testing).
* Client Communication: Maintain high standards of service and coordinate efficiently with the Client.
Essential Skills & Experience
You need deep transmission expertise and leadership skills:
* Senior Leadership: Proven experience technically leading and coaching engineering teams.
* National Grid Standards: Deep understanding of P&C systems on the National Grid transmission network.
* Design Proficiency: Detailed design knowledge: Circuit Diagrams, Cubicle Design and Settings.
* TP141 Knowledge: Experience or strong understanding of TP141 (CDAE) requirements.
* Education: Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering plus extensive industry experience.
* Excellent Communication and analytical skills.
Compensation & Benefits
* Base Salary: £75,000 to £85,000 per annum.
* Bonus Structure: Overtime (OT) bonus structure in addition to base salary.
