Senior Interaction Designer – Contract (Inside IR35)
£600–£700 per day | Until October 2026
1 day per week on-site in London, Glasgow, or Cardiff
Are you a Senior Interaction Designer ready to shape user experiences that genuinely make a difference? We are looking for an expert practitioner to lead design across multiple complex digital services, drive best practice, and champion user-centred, accessible design.

What You will Do
Lead interaction design for multiple or highly complex services.
Set direction and assure the quality of design delivery across teams.
Collaborate with Product Managers, Service Owners and user-centred design colleagues.
Develop design concepts, frameworks, templates, and consistent ways of working.
Drive best practice across digital teams and advocate for accessibility and inclusive design.
Mentor and support junior designers and contribute to a strong design culture.
Essential Skills & Experience
Professional experience in Interaction Design or UX Design (lead criteria)
Including leading design on complex services and guiding other designers.
Strong experience working alongside Service Designers, Content Designers, and User Researchers
You understand multidisciplinary collaboration deeply.
Expertise using the GDS Design System & prototyping with the GDS prototyping kit (lead criteria)
Experience working to the GDS Service Standard
Including involvement in service assessments.
Desirable (Nice to Have)
Experience mentoring or supporting junior designers
Understanding of digital accessibility standards, guidance and legislation
