Principal Lawyer - Planning and Highways role at Kirklees Council. Organisation: Kirklees. Directorate: Public Health and Corporate Resources. Service Area: Governance & Commissioning. Hours: 37 per week. Location: Huddersfield and surrounding areas. Position type: Permanent. Grade: 14 - 15. Salary: £51,356 to £56,494 + £3000 Market Rate Supplement.
What you will do
* You will be one of the lead lawyers in the Planning and Highways team, providing advice to officers and elected members. Responsibilities include handling s106 and s278 agreements, complex and routine planning and highways advice, public inquiries, advice on planning enforcement, and public law.

What you will bring
* Qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate, or Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. Substantial recent experience at a senior level of planning law and practice, with experience or aptitude to develop in highways law, public rights of way and local government law.
