This is an exciting opportunity to join our Direct Payment team, part of the System and Finance service within Integrated Commissioning and Partnerships at Calderdale Council. The team supports both Adults and Children’s Social Care directorates, assisting individuals with social care needs who wish to manage their personal budgets through a Direct Payment, enhancing their choice, control, and independence.
The team’s responsibilities include setting up Direct Payments, educating individuals about their responsibilities, and handling queries professionally from internal and external stakeholders.
We are seeking a professional, friendly, and customer-focused Direct Payment Officer. Your role will involve promoting a high-quality, customer-focused service, meeting with individuals or their representatives, providing ongoing support, and conducting reviews to ensure compliance with the Direct Payment Agreement.
Applicants with experience in a Direct Payment or Customer Service environment are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
* Experience in a customer-focused role, handling communication via phone, email, letters, and face-to-face interactions, understanding diverse needs.
* Ability to manage challenging situations positively, either face-to-face or by phone.
* Empathy in dealing with customers in difficult situations to achieve positive outcomes.
* Knowledge of the principles of Direct Payments under the Care Act 2014 and related guidance, with an understanding of how Direct Payments support independent living and other outcomes.
