Quantinuum is the world’s largest integrated quantum company, pioneering powerful quantum computers and advanced software solutions. Quantinuum’s technology drives breakthroughs in materials discovery, cybersecurity, and next-gen quantum AI. With approximately 500 employees, including 370+ scientists and engineers, Quantinuum leads the quantum computing revolution across continents.

We unite best-in-class software with high-fidelity hardware to accelerate quantum computing. With integrated full-stack technology, our world-class team is rapidly scaling quantum computing.

Quantinuum recently secured $300M in funding, visit our news pages to learn more about this and other Quantinuum scientific breakthroughs and achievements: https://www.quantinuum.com/news

Quantinuum is looking for a highly qualified Quantum Computing Scientist in our Broomfield, CO location to apply their knowledge base to the development of both near-term and long-term algorithm development. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of quantum error correction and the limitations and opportunities imposed by real-world hardware constraints. Quantinuum believes that employees work better, more efficiently and more collaboratively in close proximity to other employees, where ideas can be exchanged readily, and decisions can be made more quickly for the benefit of the Company and our customers. All employees should work at their assigned location; however, this role may offer the opportunity to work remotely 2 days per week, with approvals.

In this role, you will apply previous experience in theoretical quantum error correction to provide technical leadership in both technology demonstrations and the development of an architecture roadmap toward industrial-scale fault-tolerant quantum computation. You will also drive development of new concepts, help mature software tools to program quantum computers, and write journal publications and conference presentations. You will work with fellow theorists and system-level architects to ensure rapid and significant advancement of the state-of-the-art.

Key Responsibilities:

* Work directly with other theorists and experimentalists to understand the trapped-ion QCCD quantum computer architecture
* Develop quantum error correction codes optimized for our hardware and inform hardware designs to work well with quantum error correction codes
* Help inform system level requirements (error rates, classical computing requirements, etc.) to enable efficient error correction
* Work with algorithm developers to find early uses for error correction concepts
* Communicate ground-breaking results both internally and externally through publications and presentations

You Must Have:

* CompletedPhD prior to starting
* Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

We Value:

* CompletedPhD in Physics or Computer Science with background in quantum error correction
* Experience in working with experimentalists
* Experience in working with quantum computing hardware
* Experience in other relevant area of theoretical quantum computing (diagnostics, algorithm development, etc.)
* Some knowledge of trapped-ion quantum computers
Estimated total wage: $115,000 - $140,000

What’s in it for you?
