About the role
As part of NFU Mutual’s Head Office Underwriting Department within the Farming and Estates Segment, you will report to the Underwriting Segment Manager and play a key role in shaping our underwriting strategy for a defined product range. Your responsibilities will include developing guidance, translating underwriting appetite into clear, actionable rules and processes, collaborating with colleagues across Pricing, Propositions, Sales, Agency, Claims and wider business functions, influencing decision‑making, and ensuring underwriting practices remain consistent, customer‑focused and commercially effective.

Responsibilities
* Shape underwriting strategy for the Farming and Estates segment.
* Develop and update underwriting guidance, processes and policies.
* Translate underwriting appetite into clear, actionable rules and processes.
* Collaborate with Pricing, Propositions, Sales, Agency, Claims and other functions to influence decisions and maintain consistency.
* Contribute to strategic projects improving operational efficiencies.
About you
Strong technical knowledge and background in farm underwriting, supported by analytical and strategic thinking skills.
Qualifications
* Experience in farm underwriting, with estates experience desirable.
* Strong report‑writing skills and ability to interpret complex information for varied audiences.
* Confident communicator with influencing skills and the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
* Analytical thinker who can translate data into insight and actionable recommendations.
* Experience delivering projects in a fast‑moving, head‑office/strategy‑focused underwriting environment.
