Freelance Residential Buyer Required - Immediate Start
Position: Buyer
Location: Surrey
Rate: GBP250 - GBP300 per day (depending on experience)
Duration: Ongoing (minimum 3 months)
We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Buyer to join a residential developer on an immediate basis. This role sits within the commercial team and will involve working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective procurement across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Conducting take-offs and scheduling of materials and packages from drawings and specifications
* Managing procurement processes, including issuing enquiries, tender analysis, and placing orders
* Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value
* Liaising with design teams to manage design changes and update material schedules
* Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
* Supporting cost reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
* Identifying alternative suppliers and materials to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Requirements
* Proven experience working as a Buyer within residential construction or housebuilding
* Strong understanding of procurement processes, material sourcing, and supply chain management
* Good commercial awareness with strong organisational and analytical skills
* Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
* Previous experience with a residential developer or housebuilder is highly desirable
