Building Services Engineer
Department: Corporate Services and Facilities
Salary: £43,151- £46,387 plus Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £2,500 per annum.
This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week, open to flexible, compressed, and part-time working patterns with a minimum coverage of 30 hours, Monday to Friday. You will participate in an on-call rota approximately every six weeks, with an on-call allowance.
Do you want to work on an estate with advanced technical facilities where you can make a difference supporting security? You’ll use your knowledge of building services to maintain and develop an expanding estate with diverse facilities, services, and utilities across multiple buildings, including manufacturing workshops, laboratories, clean rooms, server rooms, and offices. The campus features buildings ranging from newly constructed to around 50 years old, with varying infrastructure.
You will work in a dynamic environment where each day presents new challenges, interacting with a broad range of users and suppliers. Your responsibilities include planning and executing projects, from delivering complex new facilities to ensuring statutory compliance.
Your role involves project managing system replacements and coordinating reactive repairs. You will utilize your analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve issues with building systems. You will join a supportive team that encourages professional development through courses, including externally recognized CIBSE certifications and in-house training.
About You
Essential qualifications and experience:
* A professional qualification in building services or relevant experience.
* Strong understanding of building engineering and technology, such as HVAC, electrical systems, and plumbing.
* Knowledge of building regulations, safety standards, and sustainable technologies.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
Desirable but not essential:
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience with ISO standards like ISO 50001, ISO 14001.
* Familiarity with AutoCAD software.

* Ensure site safety and legal compliance.

* Interrogate Building Management System for faults and improvements.
* Address user requests for repairs and infrastructure upgrades.
