About the Role

Goole Academy are looking to appoint an Education Welfare Officer to join our academy in January 2026 on a full time, permanent basis.

As an Education Welfare Officer (EWO), you will provide a service for students and their families. You will ensure, with others, that students receive education appropriate to their needs by regular attendance at the academy, assisting them to obtain maximum benefit from their education and be involved in the development of the service and staff.


Hours

37 hours per week / Term Time only plus 5 Days (39 Weeks) / Permanent


Key Responsibilities

Provide a comprehensive welfare service for students and families, ensuring that students attend school regularly and obtain the maximum benefit from their education. Support students in achieving their full potential while working collaboratively with staff to develop and improve the welfare service.

School Overview

Goole Academy serves a local community with roots in industry and a rich maritime history. Located just off Junction 36 of the M62, many students live within walking distance. The Academy is fed by a total of 10 primary schools of varying size. Recent growth has seen our roll rise sharply, with nearly 1300 children enrolled from September 2024 and progressing towards a Pupil Admission Number (PAN) of 210 for Key Stage 4. In Key Stage 3 we have experienced record first‑choice applications, exceeding PAN for the last three years with 240, 270 and 270 applications. The Academy is the school of choice in the local area.
