Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse PD is responsible for the planning and delivery of family-centered patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with patient/family and other professional disciplines. This individual creates a partnership to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery for the achievement of mutually desired patient outcomes. Lastly, the Clinical Nurse PD supports the organization’s vision and mission while promoting and providing excellence in nursing care.
Responsibilities
* Provide nursing care to PICU patients in alignment with CHOC policies, professional standards of care, and legal requirements.
* Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
* Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process; maintain accurate documentation and reports.
* Adapt to changes in workload and staffing while maintaining quality care and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
* Experience: Required: Minimum one (1) year of acute care nursing experience with at least six (6) months in a pediatric setting. Preferred: One (1) year of acute care nursing in a pediatric inpatient hospital.
* Education: Required: Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (effective on all external offers made after November 1, 2015).
* Specialized Skills: Required: Knowledge of and ability to provide appropriate family-centered patient care based on age, cultural and spiritual needs; excellent customer satisfaction skills; effective communication; ability to prioritize and complete duties timely; collaborate positively with others; accurate documentation and reporting; adhere to CHOC policies and procedures; flexibility in response to changes in workload/staffing; goal setting and result evaluation; patient-centered care with sensitivity and respect.
* Licensure: Required: Basic Life Support (BLS); Registered Nurse – California (RN); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Preferred: Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN).
Work Environment & Requirements
* Work Shift: Night – 12 hours (Per Diem)
* Work Location: CHOC Mission PICU
