Transport Planner
Location: DY6
Salary: £38,000 per annum
Full Time | Permanent
Flexible working required including 1 in 3 Saturdays
An established and growing logistics business based in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join its operations team.
This is a fast-paced role suited to someone who can work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and maintain excellent service levels across daily transport operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Planning and coordinating UK transport operations
* Managing driver routes, schedules, and vehicle utilisation
* Monitoring deliveries and resolving operational issues proactively
* Communicating with drivers, customers, and warehouse teams
* Ensuring compliance with transport legislation and company procedures
* Supporting same-day, groupage, and time-critical deliveries
* Maintaining accurate operational records and transport documentation
* Assisting with weekend operational cover on a rota basis
Requirements
* Previous experience in a transport planning or logistics coordination role
* Strong geographical knowledge of the UK
* Ability to work effectively in a busy and reactive environment
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Confident using transport management systems and Microsoft Office
* Flexible approach to working hours
* Knowledge of ADR, temperature-controlled, or European logistics would be advantageous but not essential
