As the studio continues to develop and evolve, RMD is seeking a full-time Senior Interior Designer to work closely with the Director and Commercial Lead to support the ongoing development of the studio, its processes, and its team.
This is a hands-on, studio-based role (five days a week) for an experienced designer who enjoys being present, involved, and instrumental in shaping both projects and how the studio operates day to day.
The Role
Working closely with the Director and wider team, you will provide interior design, architectural, and FF&E design direction and delivery across multiple residential and commercial projects. You will be involved throughout all stages of work, from concept and presentation through procurement to completion, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard and clients receive a seamless, well-managed service.
This role combines creative leadership, project delivery, and team development, and is suited to someone who enjoys contributing ideas, improving processes, and supporting others to do their best work.
Creative Direction & Design Leadership
* Work alongside the Director and team to deliver interior design, architecture, and FF&E across multiple projects
* Profficient in Vectorworks, Sketch up and Houzz Pro.
* Inspire and support the design team, contributing fresh ideas and creative direction
* Experience liaising with contractors and suppliers, with the ability to source new providers as required.
* Design and develop bespoke furniture, including case pieces, upholstery, lighting, and joinery
* Lead space planning, detailed joinery drawings, and detailed specifications, Lighting and M&E
* Support designers on both conceptual and technical aspects of projects, including CAD guidance
* Share knowledge openly, supporting the development of junior team members
Business, Project & Studio Management
* Coordinate and oversee project documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency
* Support the Director and Commercial Lead in developing and managing project programmes and internal milestones
* Manage and review information from consultants, contractors, and suppliers
* Confidently troubleshoot issues and move between multiple live projects
* Apply strategic thinking to identify risks and propose practical solutions
* Take responsibility for project programmes, deadlines, costs, and budgets
* Present and sell concepts and design solutions to clients
* Ensure projects are delivered efficiently, professionally, and profitably
* Contribute to the day-to-day running of the studio, maintaining an organised working environment
Team Support & Process Development
A key part of this role is supporting the ongoing development of the studio and its people.
You will:
* Help set and implement internal design standards and guidelines
* Streamline processes and procedures to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency
* Monitor project output and discuss observations constructively with the Director and Commercial Lead
* Mentor and support junior and new team members across multiple projects
* Teach and reinforce approved processes and ways of working
* Encourage collaboration, motivation, and a positive studio culture
About You
* Proven experience as a Senior Interior Designer
* Accomplished in managing multiple residential and/or commercial projects
* Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable improving processes
* A collaborative team player who enjoys mentoring and supporting others
* Professional, calm, and confident with clients, consultants, and suppliers
* Interested in contributing to both project delivery and studio development
* Well organised and presentable at all times
