Around 22,000 colleagues produce quality packaging for foodstuffs, cosmetics and industrial cleaning brands for many blue-chip clients across 182 ALPLA sites in 45 countries Purpose The Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for managing Health, Safety and Environment Management systems and activities across production and warehouse facilities. The H&S Manager will lead safety across the site identifying hazards, reducing risk and preventing accidents. Reporting directly into Plant Manager, supporting wider H&S Team including Coordinator and H&S Administrator Tasks & responsibilities: (Not limited to) * Advise all levels of the site, providing technical support and motivating stakeholders to follow proper administration of health, safety and environmental programs. * Implement ALPLA programs, apply relevant technical guidance and control physical, chemical, electrical, mechanical and ergonomic hazards and potential risk from the operations. * Arrange Health & Safety training for all plant employees and communicate tool box talks. * Promote a positive HSE culture amongst all employee groups, engaging stakeholders when appropriate. * Facilitate a risk assessment programme for continuous review. * Present incidents, near miss and injuries data for the management morning meeting and take corrective actions * Arrange external risk assessments and surveys * Ensure the management team undertake the management of change and impact assessments prior to variation effecting health, safety and environment. * Participate in the management review process * Arrange a schedule of internal audits and reporting against the ISO45001 standard. * Chair a programme of health and safety committee meetings * Other site team responsibilities and projects as may arise Education / Experience: * Relevant qualification in HSE, NEBOSH Diploma / certificate * Substantial Health and Safety management experience within a FMCG organisation (ideally plastics / packaging) with knowledge and exposure to Distribution/ Warehousing function * Experience of a multi-site role with exposure to a variety of production machinery and associated ancillary equipment. * Experience of managing external parties and 3rd party contractors * Extensive Knowledge of health and safety standards working within ISO14001 and 45001 frameworks * Excellent MS Office user experience * Ability to analyse rules and guidance to assess business impact * Identify and analyse organisational needs with solid problem solving to provide pragmatic solutions. * Line management experience * Confident and professional with the ability to inspire and motivate people Our new perk box offering a wealth of benefits such as: - * Money off purchases such as food, drink, cinema, tickets, clothing, and homeware and so much more * A number of freebies across the perk box site, such as free coffees * Online access to free exercise and yoga classes with 24/7 access to qualified therapists Please apply to this position for immediate review – contact Kerry McCormick – Internal Recruiter - for more information
