Position Overview
Lead Software Engineer – Python & Django – 12‑month contract (inside IR35). Day rate £600‑£750 per day.
Location: Flexible across London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, or the North East; hybrid working option (2 days onsite per week).
Security Clearance: SC minimum.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end‑to‑end design and delivery of scalable software solutions using Python and Django.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Business Analysts, UCD specialists, developers) to define technical outcomes.
- Build and support secure, high‑performance, test‑driven code.
- Maintain and optimise live services to support stability and performance.
- Drive continuous system improvement and ensure smooth integration across complex platforms.
- Oversee multiple workstreams within an agile delivery environment.
Essential Qualifications
- 8–10 years of professional experience, with strong Python and Django expertise.
- Proven ability in system design from concept to deployment.
- Experience working within secure, structured, or regulated environments.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and multidisciplinary team working.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience aligned with GDS standards.
- Background in public sector or defence domains.
- Exposure to secure or sensitive environments.
