About our home:

Amy Woodgate House is a specialist resource centre for older people with dementia. Set over two floors, the home provides accommodation for 40 permanent and 4 short stay residents and is divided into four living units. Each unit contains a sitting and dining room with kitchen area creating a home from home environment. All rooms have large en-suite facilities.

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Home Manager to join the team at our 44-bedded Residential Care Home in Chessington - Amy Woodgate House.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. To be responsible for the day to day care of residents, delegating roles to nursing and care staff as appropriate
2. To provide clinical supervision to the Registered Nurses. Through supervision ensure that the Registered Nurse team obtain and sustain the clinical competencies necessary to meet the needs of residents.
3. To act as a Shift Team Leader and to provide overall supervision and development for care staff.
4. To contribute to the training of care staff and other staff, acting as a role model at all times.
5. To actively participate in personal and professional development opportunities,
6. Monitor, audit and review the service, taking appropriate corrective action where necessary.
7. Demonstrate high professional standards and leadership, maintaining any
8. Appropriate professional memberships.
9. Assisting the Home Manager with formal supervision / appraisal of Staff Members in line with company policy, and with on-going informal assessment of the work of Staff Members, to ensure consistently high standards.
10. Implement and adhere to Gold Care’s policies and procedures, legal requirements and relevant codes of practice.
11. To assist with effective recruitment, performance management and deployment of staff to deliver high quality care and support outcomes for people who use our services.
12. Liaise with and oversee as required, maintenance contractors and others involved in the maintenance of property, plant and equipment.
13. Promote the service and Gold Care through effective communication with other organisations, stakeholders such as people who use services, staff, relatives, medical and social care professionals, the regulator staff and the local community.
14. Promote the home professionally and effectively in the community, maintain private bed occupancy and support corporate marketing.
15. Ensure that all staff have a focus on excellent customer care to enhance the lives of people who use our services and Gold Care’s reputation.
16. Any other duties consistent with the business of Gold Care Homes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

17. Knowledge and Experience.
18. Excellent understanding of the regulatory responsibilities of a Deputy Manager.
19. Excellent understanding of the principles of high quality, person centred care and support.
20. Ability to negotiate and manage a budget.
21. Knowledge and use of clinical assessment tools.
22. Understand care planning processes and have experience of writing care plans.
23. Experience of leading a shift.
24. Experience of working in the care home environment.
25. Experience of working with individuals with dementia.
