Do you have experience working within a stock control environment and looking for your next challenge?
We have an opportunity for a Senior Materials Management Operative to join our team at our Loughton, Essex site. Reporting to the Materials Management Working Team Lead, you will be responsible for responsible planning out work activities and ensuring the correct resources in the right place at the right time, accountable for what happens in their area of responsibility, this includes implementing improvements, health & safety, auditing processes, cycle counting, incident reporting, managing spoils/projects/quarantines and escalations to the Working Team Lead.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the day‑to‑day movement and storage of materials within your area, ensuring systems and processes support safe and efficient material flow.
2. Direct safe working practices, including correct labelling, storage, handling, paperwork, and system transactions, reporting and escalating unsafe practices where required.
3. Ensure deliveries and material distribution align with production forecasts, using FIFO principles to support a just‑in‑time approach.
4. Maintain accurate system and paperwork controls (e.g. SAGE), ensuring all material movements are correctly recorded and traceable.
5. Monitor compliance with regulatory, legal, and security requirements, supporting audits, cycle counts, and addressing any issues raised.
6. Hold responsibility for safe access controls, including keys, safe opening, and maintaining dual control at all times.
7. Lead by example on the shop floor, mentoring and coaching material management operatives, escalating performance or process issues to the Working Team Leader as required.
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: Double Day shift pattern – Monday to Friday, 6am – 2pm or 2pm - 10pm (alternated weekly).
From 31st August, we will transition to a 24/5 Shift Pattern - consists of 3 crews of 12-hour shifts of either: 6.00 am to 6.00 pm; and 6.00 pm to 6.00 am, Monday to Friday rota. Attendance is 40 hours per week on average, including a 30-minute unpaid break plus a 15-minute unpaid break to be taken during the shift
Base location: Debden
Basic Salary: £39, per annum on Double Days, rising to £41, per annum on 24/5 shift pattern. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probation period, this will rise to £43, per annum.

11. Experience of working on computerised stock systems i.e. SAGE would be an advantage
