Are you an experienced Process Engineer with strong process safety credentials, ready to step into a senior-level role on a strategically important UK manufacturing site?
We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join a high-performing team at a large-scale manufacturing facility handling high-hazard materials. This is a site of national significance, operating complex, continuous processes and governed by COMAH regulations. The role offers a unique mix of technical challenge, regulatory exposure, and continuous improvement in a high-integrity, safety-focused environment.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead the charge on process safety, driving improvement projects that reduce risk to people, the environment, and the business.
* Be a key contact for UK regulators, including the HSE and EA – you’ll help maintain the site's licence to operate and ensure compliance with environmental permitting.
* Oversee process hazard analysis, including HAZOPs, LOPA, SIL assessments, and dispersion modelling.
* Support emergency planning, human factors assessments, and alarm management strategies.
* Work closely with senior stakeholders, joint venture partners, and industry forums to promote best practices in process safety and operations.
What We're Looking For
* A Chartered Chemical Engineer or equivalent with a strong background in high-hazard chemical processing.
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualified, ideally with additional formal training in process safety methodologies.
* Hands-on experience leading HAZOPs and developing Safety Reports under COMAH regulations.
* Strong communicator who can coach, influence, and challenge at all levels.
* A natural problem solver with an eye for detail and a commitment to operational excellence.
Why Apply?
This is more than a maintenance role – it is an opportunity to take ownership of process safety on a top-tier COMAH site with plenty of scope for long-term improvement and technical innovation. With excellent support, a collaborative culture, and the autonomy to make a genuine impact, this role offers a rewarding next step in your engineering career.
Benefits Include:
* Salary up to £65,000
* Up to 11% company pension contribution
* 10% discretionary annual bonus
* Life assurance
* Free on-site gym
* Optional extra 5 days holiday or 2% salary uplift annually
