Working 36.5 hours per week – this is a hybrid role, combining visits to school settings in the city and across the country, some home working with other days based at the Council House.
Birmingham Virtual School is seeking experienced and highly motivated individuals with training and qualifications in the teaching of children and young people aged 5–16 years to take on the leadership role of an Area Education Officer working directly to support schools with the education of children known to social care. The Officers will join a team of seven existing officers to grow the service to support the developing work of the Families First Programme and the developing team around the school locality working in Birmingham.

You will work closely with our young people, their families, school senior leaders, designated teachers, SENCOs, Designated Safeguarding leads, social care colleagues and other education professionals to ensure attainment gaps are closed and the potential of each of our young people is met or exceeded whilst their individual learning needs are met.
