We are seeking to recruit to our pool of Associate Lecturers, joining our team within the School of Film & Television in our purpose-built facility at the Penryn campus, Cornwall from September 2025. This is a CILECT accredited facility, working within the ScreenSkills accredited BA Film, BA Television & Film Production, our postgraduate courses, and offering online taught postgraduate provision and PhD support. Our research and professional practice is framed by the Sound/Image Cinema Lab, a multifaceted partner, funder, resource and research centre dedicated to the production and education of independent cinema https://www.falmouth.ac.uk/research/programmes/pedagogy-futures/cinema-labproject-team Teaching primarily on our undergraduate courses in BA Film, BA Television & Film Production, BA Post-Production and Visual Effects, and potentially in our taught post-graduate provision, Associate Lecturers contribute to practice and/or contextual teaching across modules in all years, from individual supervision of final year projects to small-group tutoring (-25 students). Hours and days worked are negotiable in advance, but in most cases ALs commit to contributing an agreed set of hours to a specific taught module, for an entire Study Block (term) from September. Marking duties are included, with support and guidance from module leaders. These roles are for on-campus delivery, at our Penryn Campus, in Cornwall. About You Practice You will have demonstrable experience as a professional in your specific discipline, and the ability and enthusiasm to connect your professional practice with the industrial, ethical, practical and contextual aspects of screen education. You will be an organized, effective communicator with a passion for developing the next generation of screen professionals. You will possess an undergraduate degree, and experience of teaching in a HE environment at an undergraduate level – however support will be provided for the right candidate. We are currently seeking applicants with expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: production design/set building, directing performance for screen, producing shorts and features, screenwriting and script editing, visual effects and motion graphics (including After Effects), sound design and mixing (AVID ProTools), editing (AVID Media Composer), and creative industries entrepreneurship. Experience in related fields (e.g. theatre) may be applicable. Context You will have relevant experience as a screen scholar or practitioner or within a clearly applicable transferable academic discipline, such as theatre studies/fine art film/literature studies/cultural/narrative studies. You will possess an undergraduate degree, and a postgraduate degree is desirable. This role may be well-suited to someone currently pursuing PhD studies with a view to a career in Higher Education. Excellent communication and literacy skills are essential, and successful applicants will be expected to support students in developing their essay-writing and presentation skills. You will have a keen interest in supporting students as they develop their critical and analytical approaches to screen practice, particularly as related to genre, representation, and cultural, historical and industrial contexts. You may have experience of supervising final year dissertations, and will have the ability to demonstrate that you can do so effectively.
