Job Description
Research Assistant (+ six years PhD tuition) to join the Discovering Liveability: Co‑producing alternatives to suicide prevention project. The role focuses on developing research led and co‑produced with people who have lived experience of suicide to advance innovative suicide research centred on liveability and lived experience.
Responsibilities
* Co‑produce research proposals and designs with people who have lived and/or living experience of suicide.
* Conduct qualitative field work, including interviews and focus groups, within settings defined by your research proposal (may involve UK travel or staying in fieldwork locations).
* Collect, analyse and interpret data, ensuring ethical standards and sensitivity when working with suicide‑related topics.
* Collaborate with the Discovering Liveability team, presenting findings in meetings and training sessions.
* Maintain accurate records of data collection, analysis and project deliverables.
* Support the overall project management and reporting to external stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Lived or living experience of suicide or suicidality (personal experience of suicidal thoughts or attempts, suicide bereavement, or caring for someone with suicidality), and a desire to conduct research from that experience.
* Undergraduate or Master’s degree in a relevant social science subject (postgraduate degree not required).
* Idea for a suicide research project that you would like to lead.
* Strong written and oral communication skills, and English‑language proficiency sufficient for admission to the PhD Health in Social Science.
* Experience engaging and building rapport with diverse individuals, and awareness of ethical considerations related to suicide research.
