Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Wimborne, Dorset (UK)
Contract: Permanent | Full-time | Term-Time Only (Monday-Friday)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Annual Salary: £22,102.72 - £24,103.93 (actual salary)

About the Role

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Wimborne. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support young people with special educational needs (SEN) within a safe, caring, and creative learning environment. You will play a vital part in helping our students develop independence, confidence, emotional intelligence, and lifelong skills to prepare them for adult life, further study, or employment.

No previous experience is required - we will provide full training.

What You'll Do

Support students' learning, independence and well-being throughout the school day.

Assist teaching staff in delivering engaging, person-centred academic and vocational programmes.

Work flexibly in different environments: in-class, on a 1:1 basis, small groups, or off-site activities.

Promote positive behaviour, self-regulation, and social development.

Support with planning, preparation, and delivery of curriculum activities.

Contribute to the assessment, recording and reporting of student progress.

Maintain safeguarding at all times and follow all health & safety policies.

Keep accurate records and ensure information is up to date.

Be prepared to adapt and assist wherever required to support the needs of the school.

What We're Looking For

Whilst experience is not essential, the ideal candidate will be motivated by making a difference and committed to building professional, trusted relationships with young people.

Essential:

Full UK right to work.

Full employment reference history from secondary school onwards.

Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Minimum age to work on site: 21.

Level 2 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

Good numeracy, literacy and ICT skills.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Positive, proactive and creative mindset in meeting student needs.
