Job overview

We are looking for a motivated Healthcare Science Associate Practitioner to join our friendly Point of Care Testing (POCT) team.

We are based in Laboratory Medicine and provide analytical equipment used in the wider Trust and Community, such as glucose meters and COVID-19 analysers. The post holder will be expected to assist in the provision of an efficient, high quality POCT service through participation in technical and scientific operations.

Please note this post will involve some weekend working.

Main duties of the job

Key duties include:

1. To carry out training sessions on POCT equipment to clinical staff.
2. To manage the distribution and returns of EQA.
3. To perform audits in areas with POCT equipment and on operators of POCT equipment to aid management of compliance.
4. To maintain clear and concise communication with users of the service at all times.

To help to ensure that all work is carried out to the standards necessary for future ISO Accreditation.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential criteria

13. HNC/HND or a foundation degree in a science subject or equivalent experience

Desirable criteria

14. Experience of working in a blood science laboratory.
15. Previous experience of working in POCT

Skills & Attributes

Essential criteria

16. Understanding of how POCT contributes to patient care

Desirable criteria

17. Previous use of laboratory analysers & equipment,, performing tests and maintaining equipment
