Conveyancing Assistant – Part-Time
Location: Exeter, Devon
We are looking for a Conveyancing Assistant to join our residential property team in our Exeter office on a part‑time basis (21 hours a week, including a Friday). In this role you will support the team in residential transactions and deliver a first‑class service to our clients, focusing primarily on the onboarding and Anti‑Money‑Laundering (AML) compliance processes.
Responsibilities
* Onboarding of clients / file opening to comply with AML and SRA requirements.
* Undertake file management – scheduling deeds and documents, completing archiving, and e‑filing.
* Comply with internal policies, procedures, ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
* Manage files diligently and review each regularly.
* Ensure client accounts and billing comply with Solicitors Accounts Rules.
* Draft contracts, initial letters, protocol forms, completion statements.
* Submit property searches and Land Registry searches.
* Draft and submit Land Registry applications via the Land Registry Portal.
* Manage post‑exchange and completion formalities.
Ideal Candidate
* Previous experience in residential property work is desirable.
* Experience in a client‑facing role.
* Consistent delivery of exceptional customer service standards.
* Experience with compliance and file maintenance procedures.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask and manage competing priorities and deadlines flexibly and proactively.
* Excellent interpersonal skills – effective communicator at all levels (written and verbal) as the successful candidate will liaise with clients.
