About the role…
Reporting directly to the NGED Contract Manager, this hybrid role will focus on regular SAP duties as and when required, providing onsite support for problematic and more complex sites and working closely with the planning team to provide guidance.
The role will see you working on numerous client sites maintaining Transformers and switchgear and working on projects across the UK, providing guidance and quotations to customers for repairs and smaller projects.
Taking a lead role in delivering the small projects and provide support and technical guidance to the maintenance and projects operational teams
As a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) you will…
Manage projects to the highest safety standards - zero harm and responsible for site safety and work quality and compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards - compliance with health and safety legislation.
Manage Projects to the highest electrical safety management safety standards - zero harm, network security/ Manage Projects to the company Environmental Standards - zero environmental impact.
Develop good relationships with clients, other service providers, architects, consultants and end customers - Increased sales and repeat business. Promote, design and deliver full project management solutions - reduced customer effort and time, ensuring value for money. Deliver the project at the expected level of safety, quality, performance and cost - continuation of work.
Act as the site management interface between, customer’s staff and other service providers, ensuring resolution of site issues and project success. Ensuring that adequate progress is being made and reporting is in place during the project lifecycle - project reporting, highlighting cost control, progress and variation management.
Managing all directly employed staff involved with Projects, ensuring effective utilisation of employees.
To comply with the companies HV safety rules & procedures at all times / Undertake the necessary SAP approved training together with any refreshers / Be appointed by Authorising Engineer and assessed as competent to act as SAP
Produce accurate switching programmes and issue of safety related documents to persons qualified to receive them
Maintain a log of SAP activity for audit purposes and carry out functional / Operational switching of HV distribution systems within your appointment criteria and maintenance & testing of HV switchgear
Participate in company out of hours on call system as required
?About you…
BTEC in Electrical Engineering or C&G equivalent.
Minimum ONC in Electrical Engineering discipline or equivalent – essential.
Previous DNO experience
Pre-existing authorisation to work for midlands distribution network operator (NGED) - desirable.
A thorough Understanding of Electrical Power System up to 33KV.
Good Transformer knowledge and understanding
Experience of resource planning and scheduling support
Distribution Network experience within the Electrical Supply Industry.
Ability to give direction in application of Distribution Safety Rules, safety procedures and codes of practice in combination with health & safety legislation requirements.
Familiarity with relevant network diagram software programs.
Customer awareness and knowledge of DNO client expectations and how to meet/exceed these.
Demonstrable knowledge of the requirements of electrical projects and procedures required for delivery.
Proven ability to apply relevant design/planning procedures and requirements.
Proven ability to deliver projects within time, cost, quality and safety parameters.
Good understanding of the asset owner interfaces and network attributes.
Full UK driving license – essential.
