Job Opportunity
Due to continued growth, Labman is seeking to add a Facilities / Maintenance Technician to our existing maintenance team. The role involves working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional call outs.
Role Responsibilities
The technician will perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure building facilities operate smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include repairing and maintaining building systems (plumbing, electrical, etc.), conducting preventative maintenance, responding to requests, identifying safety hazards, and keeping detailed records. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with potential for leadership growth within the organization.
Key Tasks
* Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment.
* Perform planned maintenance (fire alarm tests, emergency lighting, equipment maintenance).
* Oversee contractors.
* Carry out maintenance tasks (painting, reactive repairs).
* Handle minor plumbing, electrical work, and repairs to building fabric.
* Engage in waste management activities.
* Maintain grounds and operate basic hand and mechanical tools (hedge cutters, mowers, strimmers).
* Provide updates on scheduled tasks and progress.
* Report and resolve deficiencies to prevent faults and safety risks.
* Support production activities.
* Proactively seek continual site/building improvements.
Essential Capabilities
* Experience in a similar caretaker or facilities role preferred.
* Ability to perform various building tradesman activities.
* Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical tasks.
* Strong planning and communication skills (written and verbal).
* Driving license is essential.
* Ability to work independently.
* Organizational efficiency.
* Experience in maintenance planning and project management.
* Ability to delegate and specify work to subcontractors.
* Passion and enthusiasm for the work.
* Computer literacy.
