Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide secretarial support for the Community Health Adult Services programs of the Worcester County Health Department. The job duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
1. Considerable organization;
2. Filing of both electronic & paper documents;
3. Maintenance of staff schedules;
4. Composing & proofreading correspondence;
5. Compiling & summarizing data into concise form;
6. Assisting clients with Maryland Access Point intake services;
7. Data entry & tracking for program reporting;
8. Preparation of technical & confidential report; and
9. Taking & typing meeting minutes.
The selected applicant mut be willing and able to travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess:
10. Computer experience including spreadsheet development
11. Strong consumer relation skills (verbal and written communication)
12. Excellent organizational skills related to the maintenance of files/records
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a keyboard of a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.
