WorkwithSchools is looking to recruit a Nursery Room Leader to oversee the two-year-olds' room in a nursery setting based in York.
This is a permanent, full-time role, working four days a week with one day off, starting as soon as possible. A competitive salary is offered, dependent on experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all two-year-old checks, ensuring they are completed before children move to the next preschool room. Daily monitoring and review of staff, activities, and risk assessments are required.
Purpose of the role:
* Ensure high standards of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for all children
* Safeguard children and promote their welfare and safety
* Support team members within the room and the wider nursery
* Work collaboratively to provide an environment where children can play, learn, and develop
Main duties include:
* Support team members with the skills needed to work effectively with this age group
* Develop and implement activity programmes tailored to children's needs and interests
* Follow nursery safeguarding procedures to keep children safe and secure
* Maintain records of children's development and share progress with parents and carers
* Assist in early identification and support for children with special needs
* Ensure timely completion and sharing of two-year-old progress checks
* Conduct supervision meetings and contribute to appraisals and nursery operations
* Participate in nursery meetings and support team working
* Support induction and training for new staff and volunteers
* Maintain accurate records, including learning journeys and welfare forms
* Conduct room and outdoor safety checks
* Liaise with parents, families, local authorities, and professionals
* Participate in out-of-hours activities such as training and events
* Undertake domestic tasks like meal preparation and equipment cleaning as directed
* Support training and placements within the nursery
* Ensure adherence to policies and health and safety standards
* Maintain confidentiality at all times
Specific childcare tasks:
* Prepare and support activities suited to each child's development
* Support staff in their roles, especially as key persons
* Ensure mealtimes are social and pleasant
* Assist with washing, changing, and caring for children
* Develop strong partnerships with parents and carers
* Uphold the nursery's high standards both in and outside of work hours
