Quality Engineer (Inside IR35) Location: Telford - 2 days per week on site Contract: ASAP - 31/12/26 Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join a large-scale central government programme delivering modern, high-quality digital services. You will work as part of an agile scrum team (4-8 engineers) operating in two-week sprints, helping to ensure solutions meet the highest quality standards across a range of technologies. Tech Stack Frontend: Remix, React, JavaScript Backend: Java, Spring, .NET Data: MongoDB, Oracle Tools: RabbitMQ, JSON Key Responsibilities Design and implement test automation frameworks and solutions from the ground up Apply TDD/BDD methodologies and risk-based testing approaches Support CI/CD pipelines and promote shift-left quality practices Coach and mentor engineers on quality engineering best practices Conduct testing across all levels (Unit, Integration, System, Non-Functional) Analyse business requirements to define effective test strategies Manage test data and maintain testing collateral Collaborate in development activities through pair programming Required Skills Strong background in software testing and quality engineering Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines Proficiency with Git/GitLab Excellent communication and coaching skills Strong stakeholder management abilities Quality-first mindset Preferred Skills Experience with automation tools (JUnit, Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber) Familiarity with performance testing (Gatling) and security testing (OWASP Zap) Knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments (AWS) Accessibility testing expertise (WCAG, Wave, Axe)
