Theatre Practitioner RGN/ODP

We are looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner to assist in leading the emergency Theatre Team at The Countess of Chester Hospital. The applicant must have extensive experience in theatre scrub practice across a range of surgical specialities.
Main duties of the job
* Lead emergency theatre procedures.
* Support the senior team in the daily running of the theatre department.
* Engage with the Theatre Teaching Program for student nurses and student ODPs, and mentor newly qualified members of the Theatre Team.
* Ensure equipment availability for operating lists and order necessary consumable items.
* Uphold best practice at all times within the Theatre Department, maintaining trust values and professional governing body code of conduct.
* Deputise for the Speciality Manager in their absence.
* Coordinate the Theatre Department when the Theatre Coordinator is absent.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) qualification.
* Mentorship qualification and experience in mentoring.
Knowledge and Experience
* Proven ability to run an operating list for elective and emergency surgeries.
* Experience of emergency theatre procedures in both scrub and circulator roles.
* Broad awareness of professional issues in theatre practice.
* Evidence of recent professional development or further study.
* Significant post‑registration experience in a rotational capacity, including additional surgical specialities.

* Ability to work flexibly with shift patterns, including internal rotation within the allocated area of practice.
* Effective teamwork skills to accomplish organisational goals and resolve issues.
* Strong time‑management and prioritisation skills.
* Ability to delegate and monitor the effectiveness of delegated tasks.
* Effective communication skills to follow correct lines of communication and to convey sensitive or unpleasant information when required.
