Location: We are currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Fitter to work within our maintenance department of our Bioresource West business area, at Yorkshire Water. This is a mobile role in the West Yorkshire region; your home location will determine the area you cover.
Work type: Permanent. You’ll work 37 hours per week. Out of hours, weekend working, and bank holidays are included in a structured standby rota. After training you may be assessed for working independently and will participate in an out-of-hours standby rota which may include evenings, weekends, and overnight callouts.

Responsibilities
* Undertake maintenance of Yorkshire Water’s Electrical and Mechanical assets across water and wastewater treatment and pumping installations at Bio-Resource sites.
* Work as part of a mobile Maintenance Team delivering Planned & Reactive maintenance; respond to emergency calls (on-call rota).
* Supervise approved Contract Partners, provide risk assessments and method statements where required for permits to work.
* Use Toughbook and/or iPad to capture all work activity and job status in line with workflow processes.
* Install & commission new plant and equipment to relevant standards; diagnose and repair faults on systems and equipment.
* Identify follow-on work or areas for enhancement; conduct own risk assessments and create method statements when required.
* Specify parts and equipment required for procurement as part of day-to-day role.
* Assist in the development and training of apprentices and less experienced team members.
Skills, experience & qualifications
* Essential: Recognised Mechanical craft/Technician Apprenticeship and City & Guilds/ONC/BTEC/NVQ/HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Eng Tech; full valid driving license with no more than six points.
* Desirable: HNC in Mechanical discipline; CompEx 11.
* Mandatory: Safe isolation to current IET regulations; time-served industrial mechanical fitter; experience with rotating equipment; ability to produce maintenance reports; fault finding on mechanical systems.
* Desirable: Experience maintaining and repairing pumps, gearboxes, compressors; working with PSSR; experience with steam systems, chemical plants; hot work/fabrication and welding; operating lifting equipment; pneumatics and hydraulics.
* Ideally you will have experience as a Mechanical Fitter in the water or wastewater sectors or related utilities, process, or manufacturing industries. Ability to work in confined spaces and pass medical criteria.
