We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Positive Behaviour Support Worker to join our Beverley Lewis House team, providing a person-centred support service for women with learning disabilities, mental health and/or autism who are fleeing domestic abuse or harm. Beverley Lewis House is the only safe house in the country for women with learning disabilities. It has won two national awards and appeared on Channel 4’s Dispatches show as an example of good practice. It is also part of a service that is rated Outstanding by CQC. The scheme only supports six women so this means that you will have plenty of time to carry out productive and meaningful work, helping them to live independently whilst recovering from trauma. To help you carry out this work, you will be supported by an on-site manager, positive behaviour support (PBS) practitioner and life skills coach. You will be provided with extensive training on PBS interventions such as how to spot the things that might trigger someone who has experienced abuse and how to intervene. You will be trained on understanding each person’s PBS plan so you can help them to live well and be part of their local community. Your impact in the role: Resident Advocacy: Ensure residents’ voices are heard and their needs are effectively represented during meetings with professionals and agencies. Promote Independence: Help residents develop life skills for independent living, from managing daily tasks to engaging in community activities. Housing & Scheme Support: Monitor repairs, conduct regular health and safety inspections, liaise with contractors and fire risk assessors, and assist with estate checks to maintain a safe and well-maintained environment. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate support plans, risk assessments, and daily notes. Ensure all documentation is accessible using basic IT tools. Problem-Solving and Crisis Management: Be alert and capable of addressing problems independently, make effective crisis management interventions and escalate issues when. Recovery-based interventions and Support: Be able to support with recovery as well as relapse and advocate for necessary treatment. Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, external professionals, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, personalised support. What you'll bring: Knowledge of the client group and adaptable skills gained at college, university or from other sectors. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills for maintaining accurate documentation and effective engagement with residents, their families, and professionals. Knowledge of health and safety requirements, including lone working procedures and safeguarding to maintain a safe environment. Person-Centred approach with a genuine interest in supporting women with learning disabilities, mental health and/or autism who are fleeing domestic abuse or harm. Proficient IT skills to update records on organisational databases and manage day-to-day administrative tasks efficiently. Ability to collaborate and work well in a diverse team environment, valuing the input of others. *Please note that due to the nature of this position, it is an occupational requirement that this role is carried out by women only.
