Paralegal – Clinical Negligence (Southport)

Location: Southport

Role overview – We’re seeking a Clinical Negligence Paralegal to manage a supervised caseload, assist senior solicitors, and work on complex, often life-changing cases. You’ll draft documents, conduct research, liaise with clients and medical experts, and help deliver outstanding results.

About The Clinical Negligence Department – We are one of the largest Clinical Negligence departments in the UK, with over 200 team members and a strong national reputation. Our work includes all forms of clinical negligence, and we have a dedicated team handling the most severe injury cases caused by medical mistakes.

Main Responsibilities

* Achieve and deliver KPI targets set by the firm
* Progress cases in a timely, efficient, and proactive manner
* Liaise with clients, experts, barristers, third party solicitors and insurers as directed
* Handle pre- and post-issue procedures under supervision in a timely and cost-effective manner
* Ensure actions per Proclaim Action List are completed promptly
* Accurate time recording
* Maintain client files in good order in accordance with Lexcel and other quality assurance requirements
* Report to Senior Lawyer as required
* Assist in the collection and collating of medical records
* Prepare client documents such as witness statements
* Manage a caseload of Clinical Negligence cases in early stages and assist team members with tasks

Essential Skills And Experience

* Desire to work in Clinical Negligence law and preferably some experience
* Graduate, preferably with a Law-related degree and/or professional qualification such as LPC or route to Bar or CILEX
* Desire and ability to take direction and supervision from team leader
* Proven legal and forensic skills
* Good research skills
* Attention to detail
* Keen analytical skills
* Good organisational skills
* Excellent people skills and service ethos
* Ability to influence at all levels
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Flexible and committed to achieving results and meeting deadlines
* Excellent client care skills
