Our client, a major player in the rail sector, is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to join a substantial rail infrastructure programme in Ireland. This contract role is pivotal for ensuring the safe, compliant, and high‑quality delivery of essential civils, track, and signalling works throughout a multi‑year programme.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide full-time on-site engineering oversight across civils, track, and signalling work packages
Ensure construction works meet the approved design, standards, and technical requirements
Review and approve construction methodologies, temporary works, and inspection/test plans
Work closely with NEC Project Managers and NEC Supervisors to maintain quality, progress, and compliance
Monitor contractor performance, identify defects, and ensure timely resolution
Support technical queries, design clarifications, change management, and issue resolution
Ensure all activities adhere to Irish rail safety regulations, CDM principles, and project governance
Maintain detailed site records, inspection reports, and progress documentation
Liaise with project engineers, designers, and site teams to ensure coordinated, safe delivery
Job Requirements:
Extensive experience as a Resident Engineer, Site Engineer, or in a similar role on large rail or infrastructure projects
Strong background in rail civils, with exposure to track and signalling works highly desirable
Excellent understanding of construction standards, engineering assurance, and safety regulations
Experience working within NEC‑based projects is an advantage
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed engineering decisions on site
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Relevant engineering qualification (Civil, Structural, Rail, or similar)
