Safety is fundamental to our mission, and we put secure, sustainable and well‐regulated design at the heart of everything we do.We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive organisation where everyone feels valued, supported and able to contribute their best work.## ## The OpportunityWe need you to join our **Safety & Regulatory Affairs** function as a **Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer**, where you’ll play a key role in shaping and assuring the nuclear safety basis of our SMR design.This is a senior, influential role sitting at the interface between engineering teams, nuclear safety specialists and regulators. You’ll ensure **Environment, Safety, Security and Safeguards (E3S)** requirements are clearly defined, robustly justified and embedded into engineering design from concept through to regulatory approval.## ## What You’ll Be DoingWe need you to:* Develop and maintain nuclear safety, security and environmental principles and requirements, ensuring they are fully integrated into engineering design activities* Proactively drive E3S requirements into design, offering expert advice, guidance and challenge to engineering teams* Review engineering designs and documentation to confirm correct interpretation and implementation of nuclear safety requirements* Work closely with nuclear safety analysis teams (including internal hazards and probabilistic safety analysis) to deliver an informed, defensible safety case* Act as a key technical interface with regulators, supporting and leading licensing activities for allocated engineering disciplines (e.g. Mechanical, Civil or Electrical)* Prepare and coordinate high‐quality responses to regulatory and customer queries in support of Rolls‐Royce SMR deployment## What Success Looks LikeIn this role, success will include:* Supporting **ALARP** and **Best Available Techniques (BAT)** demonstrations using appropriate good practice* Confidently representing Rolls‐Royce SMR’s nuclear safety position to internal and external stakeholders* Delivering high‐quality technical reviews of engineering and nuclear safety analysis documentation* Making a visible contribution to regulatory assessment, licensing milestones and overall programme confidence## What We’re Looking ForWe know there’s no such thing as a “perfect” candidate.
