Kettlethorpe High School – a large, vibrant, and inclusive maintained secondary school with a strong reputation for nurturing ambition and delivering a high-quality education – is seeking a Safeguarding Officer to support with safeguarding and child protection across the school at an operational level. Key Responsibilities Supporting and coordinating the delivery of safeguarding arrangements across the school. Overseeing and implementing safeguarding policies and procedures in line with statutory guidance. Responding promptly and effectively to safeguarding concerns, liaising with external agencies where necessary. Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with safeguarding legislation. Working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and pastoral teams to support vulnerable students and promote a safe, inclusive environment. Attending multi-agency case conferences, strategy discussions and other safeguarding and child protection meetings. Acting as a source of support, advice and expertise for staff and providing advice and support to parents/carers of vulnerable pupils, including making home visits. Liaising with the school’s Marketing Events and Publicity Officer to utilise social media to publicise the latest local and national initiatives. Skills and Experience Degree or equivalent relevant experience in a safeguarding or child protection role, ideally within an educational setting. Understanding of the principles of safeguarding practice and knowledge of current safeguarding issues. Strong knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025 and other relevant legislation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Successful experience of working with young people. Analytical and problem-solving skills based on a clear understanding of issues facing the school. Ability to understand and manage complex situations across services, partner agencies and organisational boundaries. DSL training and relevant safeguarding qualifications. Salary: £34,771.57 – £37,528.79 per annum (Grade 8). Hours: 37 hours per week, term-time only, plus insets 4 weeks. Closing date: Noon on 16 January 2026.
