Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing care and support to individuals with various needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's, and dementia. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by assisting them with daily activities and ensuring their safety and well-being.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct support to individuals in a group home or assisted living setting.
* Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
* Monitor patients' vital signs and observe any changes in their condition.
* Implement care plans tailored to each resident's needs.
* Administer medication as prescribed and ensure proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
* Engage residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
* Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
* Assist with heavy lifting using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a nurturing atmosphere.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
* Familiarity with patient observation techniques and caregiving best practices.
* Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
* Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism is a plus.
* Ability to perform cleaning tasks effectively while maintaining a hygienic environment.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
* Understanding of memory care principles and techniques for supporting individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia.
