We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to provide personalized care and specialist support to children and young people with complex health needs across Bristol. Your Role: As a Support Worker, you will deliver high-quality, individualized care and interventions based on each child or young person’s Individual Support Plan. You will be supporting children and young people in a variety of settings, including: * Children’s homes * Foster homes * Family homes Duties * Providing personal care, where needed – such as supporting with washing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and hygiene routines, while respecting privacy and promoting independence wherever possible. * Supporting children and young people with learning disabilities – helping them access education, social opportunities, and daily activities in a way that meets their individual needs and supports their development. * Assisting individuals with physical disabilities and mobility needs – which may involve the use of hoists, mobility aids, repositioning techniques, and tailored support to promote comfort, physical health, and participation in activities. * Supporting those with sensory impairments – such as visual or hearing loss, by using appropriate communication methods (e.g. sign language, visual cues, tactile support), sensory aids, and creating an environment that is accessible and calming. * Managing behaviours of concern – by using proactive strategies and trauma-informed, positive behaviour support approaches to understand, de-escalate, and respond appropriately to behaviours that may challenge. * Offering short breaks for parent carers – giving families planned or emergency respite by taking over care responsibilities and ensuring the child or young person is safe, engaged, and well supported. * Delivering emotional and behavioural support – helping children and young people regulate their emotions, build confidence and self-esteem, and develop coping skills through consistent, compassionate interaction. * Responding to both emergency and planned placements – including urgent situations where support is needed at short notice, and settings that may require multiple workers or complex coordination of care. Experience * Compassionate and patient individuals with a genuine commitment to supporting children and young people * Experience working with individuals with complex needs, including medical, physical, and behavioural support * Confidence in working both independently and as part of a team * Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and professionals * Flexibility and reliability to respond to varying care needs and schedules * A valid driving license is preferred to facilitate travel between locations. * Experience in developing care plans or similar documentation will be advantageous.
