Principality Stadium (known previously as the Millennium Stadium) is an iconic landmark within Cardiff and is an internationally recognised, multi-use facility that hosts a wide range of sporting, cultural, business and community events on an annual basis. The company which manages the stadium, Millennium Stadium plc, is a subsidiary of The Welsh Rugby Union Limited. However, as the Special Shareholder in the company, Cardiff Council currently appoints three Non-Executive Directors to the Board of Millennium Stadium plc.
The Council is seeking to appoint one Independent Non-Executive Director to join the Board of Millennium Stadium plc for a fixed term of 3 years and would welcome applications from individuals who can help to represent a broad public interest in contributing to collective Board decisions on matters such as business planning, policy, strategy, performance, financial management and corporate governance. Board membership is unpaid, but authorised travelling costs and reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be met by the company in accordance with its policy.
Applications are welcomed from candidates who have a strong track record of personal achievement and relevant business experience in the private, public or voluntary sectors and who can provide an independent business or community focused perspective to the work of the company.
