Service & Breakdown Engineer (Renewable Energy)
Location: Mid Devon with UK field‑based work
Contract: Permanent | Full‑time

Salary up to £38,000 base salary with earning potential up to £45,000 with overtime
Are you a hands‑on engineer who enjoys fault‑finding, problem‑solving, and keeping critical systems running? We’re looking for a Service & Breakdown Engineer to support the maintenance and reliability of renewable energy and heating systems across the UK.
This is a key role for someone who takes pride in delivering excellent service and helping customers get the most out of their low‑carbon technology.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the servicing, fault diagnosis, and repair of renewable energy systems, responding to both planned maintenance and reactive breakdowns in a professional and timely manner.
Systems may include:
Biomass boilers and associated plant
District heating and heat networks
Low‑carbon and renewable heating technologies
Mechanical and control system components
What You’ll Be Doing
Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
Diagnosing and repairing breakdowns efficiently and safely
Attending customer sites and providing clear technical feedback
Completing service reports and documentation accurately
Ensuring compliance with health & safety standards
Representing the company professionally on site
About You
Proven experience as a Service, Maintenance, or Breakdown Engineer
Background in mechanical, plumbing, heating, or energy systems
Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
Comfortable working independently in a field‑based role
Good communication and customer‑facing skills
Renewable energy or biomass experience is highly desirable (training can be provided)
