About the Role
Steve Mayer Opticians is looking for a friendly, caring Optical Assistant to join our team. If you enjoy helping people and want to build a career in optics, this could be the perfect role for you. You’ll play a key part in delivering expert advice, supporting patients with frames, lenses, fittings, and aftercare, and making sure every visit feels positive and personal.
We’re a community-centered practice, so we’re looking for someone who shares our passion for exceptional patient care. You’ll be part of a supportive team, with the time, tools, and guidance to do your job to a high standard, and opportunities to grow your skills through training and professional development, including Optical Assistant (OA) courses.
What you’ll do:
7. Help patients choose frames and lenses suited to their lifestyle and needs
8. Assist with fittings, adjustments, and aftercare
9. Support more complex prescriptions with guidance from the team
10. Keep displays, equipment, and consulting rooms tidy and professional
11. Be a friendly, reliable point of contact for patients and colleagues
