About the role
Are you an experienced manager working in a social care setting, looking for a new challenge and ready to take the lead in a small, person‑centred service supporting adults with a learning disability or autism? Russell Street is looking for a confident, compassionate leader to oversee the day‑to‑day running of our residential and respite provision, reporting to the Registered Manager.
Russell Street is a welcoming, homely service located in a quiet residential area just a short walk from Cambridge railway station, with on‑site parking available. The service provides long‑term home for 4 residents and 4 respite beds offering short‑term support to adults across Cambridgeshire.
You’ll be joining the wider In‑House Provider Services Team, which includes residential, respite, supported living, day services, Shared Lives and outreach support. Russell Street is one of three respite services operating across the county.
Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
About you
You will bring a solid understanding of adult social care legislation and best practice, including the Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, safeguarding and CQC standards, alongside experience in managing complex support arrangements and leading staff teams.
You’ll be confident in developing care plans, risk assessments and quality assurance processes, with the ability to make sound, evidence‑based decisions and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
A Level 4 qualification in Leadership and Management in Adult Care (or equivalent) is essential, with Level 5 desirable, but we welcome applicants with strong transferable leadership skills from related sectors who can demonstrate the ability to manage people, work collaboratively, handle risk, and deliver high‑quality, person‑centred services.
Above all, you’ll be an inclusive, proactive leader committed to safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement.
