Join to apply for the Support Worker role at East Sussex County Council.
The role is based at St Nicholas day service, Lewes. No previous experience is required, just a desire to make a difference. You will be part of a team that supports adults with a learning disability within our day service, providing a real and positive impact on attendees’ lives.
Hours are 8.30am–7.00pm, four days a week on a rota basis: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday. This role is 30 hours per week with pro rata salary.
The service offers opportunities to bring your own skills and interests into activities and to support groups and individuals in the service and in the community with learning, health and wellbeing activities on a planned basis.
Responsibilities
* Support people with timetabled activities to promote friendships, teach independence skills and involve people in their local community.
* Provide practical assistance to clients, including helping them to make friends and develop social networks.
* Assist with eating and maintaining a standard of personal hygiene as needed.
* Provide emotional support to promote clients’ health and mental wellbeing.
* Deliver support to groups and individuals within the service and in the community to participate in learning, health and wellbeing activities.
Qualifications and requirements
* Level 1 in Maths and English or ability to pass an assessment as part of the selection process.
* Have a positive attitude towards the rights of people with learning disabilities.
* Have communication and organisational skills.
* Be self-motivated and committed to providing support.
* Willing to undertake training required to complete the role.
* Have an ethos of working together.

Salary and hours
Salary: £21,072 to £21,407 per annum (full-time equivalent) or £13.50 to £13.72 per hour; 30 hours per week, pro rata. Working hours typically 8.30am–7.00pm, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays on a rota basis.
