Position
Southern Water is recruiting an Instrumentation, Control and Automation Technician to support water processing for public use.
Role Overview
As an ICA Technician, you will maintain, repair, modify, configure, commission, calibrate, and install plant instrumentation, control and monitoring equipment, shutdown systems, alarms, and telemetry across the Southern Water region in wastewater functions to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Additional Details
This role requires occasional paid out-of-hours work and on-call scheduling.
Your Responsibilities
* Fault finding, calibration, testing, investigation, and programming of telemetry, flow meters, detectors, control systems, turbidity and other measurement meters.
* Implement process improvements via control system modifications, diagnosing and fixing complex faults.
* Conduct planned maintenance and calibrate instrumentation to Southern Water standards for reliability and accuracy.
* Respond to instrumentation faults within Southern Water parameters, guided by the Regional Control Centre.
* Investigate instruments and process problems at wastewater plants, identify faults, and implement remedial actions.
* Complete documentation accurately and promptly to maintain standards and accreditation.
* Implement control system modifications to improve process control or compliance.
* Coach and train team members to develop skills.
Skills and Experience Needed
* NVQ3 in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a time-served apprenticeship.
* Experience in process-oriented industries such as water utility, petrochemical, electricity, or manufacturing.
* Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
* Experience with instrumentation, control, or automation.
* Strong documentation and regulatory compliance skills.
* Good communication skills and collaborative attitude.
* Enthusiasm for learning and growth.
* Full, current UK driving license.
