We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technical Manager to join our Building Services team in London.
As the Technical Manager - Mechanical, you will:
1. Technical & Engineering Support
Provide expert guidance on mechanical, ventilation, POLs and pressure systems—ensuring procedures are correctly managed, risks are reduced, and installations comply with design and legislative requirements.
2. Design Governance & Quality Assurance
Support and strengthen design management processes across Building Services by reviewing solutions, challenging designs where needed, and using technical knowledge (e.g., heat pumps, smart buildings, BMS) to improve buildability and reduce whole‑life costs.
3. Compliance, Safety & Performance Monitoring
Carry out site inspections and audits (often with external Authorising Engineers) to confirm systems and procedures are effective, safe, and compliant, identifying areas for improvement across projects.
4. Training & Capability Development
Oversee training for safe systems of work, including AP training, and facilitate workshops to ensure Authorised Persons and key staff maintain the right level of technical competence.
5. Strategic Support & Continuous Improvement
Advise the engineering department and wider project teams, develop energy‑reduction and decarbonisation plans, and work with other SMEs to identify root causes and implement improvements across projects.
We are looking for:
6. Pressure systems know‑how – You understand the Pressure Systems Regulations inside out and know how to keep operations safe, compliant, and running smoothly.
7. Design expertise with real impact – You bring strong knowledge of design processes and industry guidance (CIBSE, BESA, BSRIA), especially for heat pumps, heating systems, and water quality. You also have working knowledge of HTMs, BG/29, BG/50, and JSP standards—helping us deliver projects to the highest technical standards.
8. Data skills that drive decisions – You’re confident using Excel and Power BI to analyse information, spot trends, and present clear insights that support smart, evidence‑based choices.
9. Digital tools for better teamwork – You know your way around SharePoint, building automated workflows and dashboards that make processes faster, clearer, and more efficient.
10. Professional credibility – Your chartership status shows you’re committed to excellence and recognised for your high professional competence in the industry.
