* The post holder will be accountable to the Owner, Officer in Charge and Deputy Officer in Charge. Main Purpose of Job:
* To assist the above persons and so ensuring the smooth running of Kids Academy catering for children between the ages of 4 months and 12 years.
* The owner, to whom all other staff is responsible, lays down the overall policies of Kids Academy. It is the responsibility of the post holder to make him/herself aware of these. There will be opportunities to review policies annually.
* The post holder should support the above staff in providing a stimulating and varied programme of play, in order to enhance each child's abilities; and in a way which ensures the safety and well being of the children at all times.
* The post holder should be able to integrate with the other staff, including the supervisory staff, in order to ensure a team-working environment.
* The post holder should have a detailed and up-to-date knowledge of child development, and be able to demonstrate an ability to relate this to his/her practice.
* The post holder to help implement Kids Academy Safeguarding/ Child Protection Policy and Procedures Duties include:
* Ensure that all areas where the children are present, are prepared on a daily basis; Ensure all children and parents are warmly greeted and keep parents informed of their child's overall development;
* Ensure that all equipment, and play materials, are stored in a logical manner, and in a way which promotes the child's independence when choosing play materials;
* Ensure the safety of the children at all times. The post holder should have the necessary knowledge to be able to detect hazards in the environment and be able to take appropriate action.
* Light cleaning duties of toys, equipment and the rooms in order to maintain a healthy and safe environment for the children to play in.
* Assist children at mealtimes, offer help where needed and ensure that these are sociable, enjoyable occasions for everyone; Ensure that hygiene standards are maintained at all times when staff are attending to children's personal hygiene.
* These routines should be carried out in a way which demonstrates a respect for the individual child, and which promotes the child's responsibility for these routines in a way which is consistent with the child's stage of development;
* Take an active part in planning and providing a caring and stimulating environment, which meets the individual needs of all the children, in conjunction with supervisory staff;
* Help plan, prepare and take part in art, craft, music and dance activities relevant to the children.
* Help plan, prepare and take part in, all special events, outings and visits; Assist with homework for school age children.
* Assist with school runs and ensure all children are accounted for.
* If over 25, and with clean driving licence, driving Kids Academy vehicles to the relevant schools to pick up children.
* Ensure the safeguarding and Child protection of all children who attend Kids Academy. Listen to, encourage, enable and stimulate all children in all ways as part of a team approach;
* Advise the supervisory staff of any matter requiring attention such as, concerns about a child, or equipment needing repaired or replaced;
* Hold or be willing to obtain and maintain an appropriate First Aid Certificate, Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, Fire Awareness Certificate and Safeguarding certificate.
* Adhere to the dress code of the nursery;
* Keep completely confidential any information regarding children, their families or other information, which is learnt as part of the job. Such information must not be passed on without proper authority unless it is in the best interest of the child.
* The post holder shall, in each instance refer to the policy of Kids Academy to ascertain his/her responsibilities in this situation;
* Keep daily records of children specific to your work area;
* Carry out any other duties relevant to the post; Carry out reasonable instructions which are given to you by the owner/manager/supervisory staff;
* Be ready to commence working at the time stated.
* The Day Care assistant must be prepared to stay at the end of a shift until replacement staff arrive;
* Attend essential appropriate in-service training – course fees and/or time may/may not be met by the owners for approved training.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or the equivalent or willing to commence within first year of employment. Kids Academy can signpost to training providers.
* Experience working with children is preferable.
* Strong background in early childhood education or childhood development principles.
* Familiarity with special education practices and behavior management techniques.
* First aid certification is preferred but not required.

Pay: £12.21-£12.40 per hour
