Weare looking for a Clinical Support Worker to join our busy team based inChapel-en-le-Frith to provide support to outpatient clinics within Derbyshireand Cheshire.

Thesuccessful applicant will work within the business providing high quality clinicaland administrative support to patients and colleagues.

Thepost holder will work closely with the Clinical Services Manager, Service Managers,Clinicians, Clinical Support Workers and Administration staff to ensure ourpatients experience a safe and smooth pathway through the service.


Main duties of the job

Thepost holder will be an integral member of our friendly and supportive team andhelp to provide high quality administrative and clinic support across theservices we offer. The role is varied, and the post holder is expected to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to, phlebotomy, clinic support, moving and handling, arranging appointments and stock control. The post holder will work closely with the Clinical ServicesManager, service managers and healthcare professionals to ensure our patientsexperience a safe and smooth pathway through the service.

The post holder will also be required to contribute to theimprovement and development of the service.

About us

3VHealthcareLtd has been delivering high quality outpatient care commissioned by the NHSsince 2008.The organisation was created by local GP Practices with the aim toprovide excellent, local care in a range of specialties.

3VHealthcare Ltd has a multi-levelorganisational structure. The organisation is led by 3 Executive Directors, andis supported by a Head of Business and Operations, a Business and InformationManager and a Clinical Services Manager.

The services are led by 16 clinicians, 3Service Managers and a clinical pharmacist.

Healthcare and administrative support isprovided by 6 team members working a combination of full and part timehours.


Job responsibilities

Thefollowing section highlights some of the main duties and responsibilitiesexpected of the post holder. This is not exhaustive and the post holder may berequired to undertake other duties to support the needs of the organisation.

Clinical duties

* Workclosely with clinicians, colleagues and the clinical pharmacist to ensure ahigh standard of appropriate care is provided for patients across allspecialities.
* Liaise closely with colleagues to ensureaccurate and timely transfer of knowledge, information and patient care plans.
* When necessary, seek further medical advice andguidance from the relevant clinician/pharmacist and accurately relay this backto patients, carers and/or other professionals.
* Assist in the care of patients, which includesmoving and handling, chaperoning, clinic support and phlebotomy.
* Process specimens and blood samples (label andverify patients details on the sample against the request form) and ensure theyreach the collection point
* Report any concerns regarding standards to theClinical services manager
* Adhere to all rules and regulations regardingthe safe handling, use & storage of all stock (including medicines) andequipment used.
* Be aware of and adhere to the organisationsguidelines relating to infection prevention and control
* Undertake mandatory training courses,competency checks and ensure this remains up to date through the online portal.
* Strictly adhere to the organisations dataprotection and confidentiality policy this applies to information aboutpatients, staff and the health service business.
* Move and handle equipment and stocktransporting it between multiple locations.
* Arrive and unlock the clinic premises (ifappropriate) 30 minutes prior to the start of the clinic and safely secure thepremises post clinic
* Ensure clinical rooms are prepared prior to thestart of a clinic and left in a respectable condition post clinic includingregular monitoring of stock levels
* Assist in the management (which includes movingand handling) and recording of stock levels across all services, notifying theappropriate service manager of low stock.
* Treat patients sensitively with dignity,respect and discretion whilst maintaining their confidentiality.

Administrationduties

* Undertakea variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of theservices, including filing, scanning and uploading documents using healthcareonline systems.
* Taking messages and passing on information tothe appropriate team member
* Actionand process referrals received via email and the NHS e-referral service.
* Book,adjust and cancel patients appointments.
* Regularlyundertake telephone contact to confirm appointments with patients.
* Assistservice managers with input of data and associated administration tasks asrequired.
* Book and cancel clinic rooms at hostlocations.
* Excellentinterpersonal skills, the ability to provide a warm and friendly welcome topatients and clinicians using our services.
* Facilitateeffective communication between patients, members of the team, clinicians, andother associated professionals.
* Adhereto the organisations Data Protection Policies at all times when communicatingwith patients, carers, colleagues and outside providers.
* Ensure accurate and secure record keepingusing approved systems.
* Receive,assist and direct patients in a professional, sensitive, courteous andefficient, way either in person or via the telephone.
* Assistin the management of waiting list times and improved access to the service.
* Reportany concerns regarding standards to the Operations Manager
* Developthe scope of his/her skills to meet the needs of the service and undertake anynecessary training required due to the changing needs of patients and theservice.
* Shareknowledge and assist in the orientation of new members of staff.
* Activelyparticipate in staff meetings to promote development of the organisation.
* Activelyparticipate in regular Personal Development Reviews.


Person Specification


Skills

* Ability to communicate across all levels of an organisation
* Ability to work without direct supervision.
* A high standard of inter-personal skills.
* IT skills including Microsoft Office.
* Ability to prioritise workload.


Qualifications

* GCSE Grade A-C/ 9-4 or equivalent in English and Maths
* IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office and healthcare applications
* Health and social care training


Experience

* Must be able to work on own initiative as well as within a team
* Healthcare work based experience
* Administrative work-based experience
* Dealing with patients and/or members of the public.
* Flexible approach to working arrangements to meet the needs of the service
* A team worker who can demonstrate a collaborative approach to teamwork.
* Performs well under pressure.
* Full clean UK drivers license Employees must have insurance on their vehicle policy for Business use.


Research and training

* Evidence of continued professional development.
* An understanding of the pressures facing staff working in a healthcare setting
